Thanksgiving Drama - WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Eighteen, maybe nineteen people coming to my house Thursday morning.

Keep checking back, as I will add to this post as the drama unfolds. =)

-- TUESDAY --

Forgot about the Ham again this year.

Is the person bringing the salad bringing salad dressing or am I supposed to get that?

Where is the round table cloth?

Whew. Honeybaked Ham to the rescue.

The test gravy was crap. Any good gravy suggestions?

Still can't find the tablecloth. Or the pad that goes under it. Add Bed Bath & Beyond to my places to go this afternoon (with both kids, of course!)

A friend's doggie died. Taking time for her right now. (less time for all the other crap, but oh well.)

4 stores to do the grocery shopping trip. 1) Ham 2) everything but bread & fish sticks 3) replacement table cloth & pad 4) bread, fish sticks & starbucks treat

Ironed table cloths make a room instantly better!

Don't have a butter dish for the second table.

Just realized we need 3 tables to seat everyone, rather than the 2 I was planning.

Don't have a butter dish for the 2nd or 3rd tables now.

The hubby told me I was crazy last year and that's why I can't find the round table cloth. I figure post-partum is pretty much the same thing as crazy so I let it slide.

Arm injury allowed for only half the leaves to be blown. On the up side now there's a HUGE pile for jumping!

I bought turkey gravy and brown gravy mix. I never did like turkey gravy anyway.

Lindsey's snot is more and cough is worse. Benadryl, anyone?

Going to call it a day and fix a myself a little hot cocoa.

-- WEDNESDAY --

So far so good. Kid #1 off to Gymnastics Camp. Kid #2 down for a nap.

BUSY! So busy I haven't posted since 9:30 and it's now 8:30. I washed windows, dishes, put up laundry, moved a table, brought up ALL the card tables (I was expecting to use 2, we have 7), moved tables and shifted tables and moved tables and turned tables upside down, and finally found a place for all 19 people to sit - AT ONE FREAKIN' HUGE TABLE. Not 2, not 3. ONE! We can't walk down the hall, there's a table sticking out of the dining room into the hall. Thank heavens for open floor plans. Oh, in the midst of all that table moving, every time I thought I had it figured out I set the table. So I've set and unset and re set and set again that stupid big ass table. In the mean time Lindsey's miserable with a cold and wouldn't nap and wouldn't play by herself, no, she wanted to be held. Sweet girl was probably picking up on the stress in the house, too. She's the sensitive one like that. In the back ground the Hubby is blowing leaves in the front and mowing grass in the back, and wouldn't you know the mower ran out of gas!? So we had to get more of that and while we were out driving around to force Lindsey into a nap we found more bread and I settled for vinyl table cloths. Did I mention that this lard ass table does NOT include the round one. The one I went out yesterday and bought a table cloth especially for? Natalie did have a wonderful time at Gymnastics camp, so thank goodness for that and for Coach Yolanda. It appears she ate all her lunch, too! Whoo Hoo! Now, it's time to sit down, put my feet up, and watch last night's SYTYCD. With a mug of something hot, of course!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night!

Let's Bring 'Em Home!

"We are not for the war in Iraq, nor are we against it. We are not Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green or Independent. We are not pro-Obama or anti-Obama. Our motives serve not to change world events, nor your perception of them. Our mission is as simple, as it is noble. All we want to do is unite a few military families for the Christmas holiday. That's it. No hidden agendas, no political speeches. We just buy plane tickets for troops. Period."

Who Knew?

Who knew you could
Displace a Rib
from coughing for 3 weeks straight?

(Not me.)

Friday the 13th (of course) I was at work, typing boring normal vital signs into a computer when a coughing fit came on. Stifling it as I walked out of the room, I had one hard cough, a pop, stabbing worst pain of my life, and then I couldn't breathe. Couldn't move.

Fearing a collapsed lung, My friend and co-nurse Danielle took me across the street to the ER for grown ups and after a beautifully normal EKG and a not-quite-as-normal Chest Xray, Dr Nice Guy told me I'd displaced a rib. Danielle thought he was joking.

Prescriptions for healing: Rx for the good pain killer. Rest. Ice. Jacuzzi Soaks. Time.

The Rx and Ice and even the jacuzzi I have. The rest and time, a little harder to come by. But Josh has taken over super dad and hubby roles and I'm slowly and surely healing.
