A Favorite Poem
Bed In Summer
by Robert Louis Stevenson
by Robert Louis Stevenson
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people's feet
Still going past me in the street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

Cows!
Natalie loves
Prior to today, we'd collected 3 of them. She named them: Natalie, Lindsey, and Ba, and then asked where the Daddy cow was. So we returned to Cow Eat today in pursuit of a cow figurine to be come Dayee. Boy did this turn out to be our day. After using a coupon for a FREE kids meal I found in the dark corners of my wallet, we discovered there were there TWO cow figurines tucked into her kids meal. Feeling through the package to find they were in the same stance, I went to Bobby, the customer service guru and asked if I could check another package to find the cow in the touchdown position for a trade. This would give us a set of 4 cows, each in a different stance.
a gold cow!!!
Now, while we're not in India, this is still a very special cow, for it carries with it a coupon for a free ice cream. Fearing that Natalie would not accept this gold cow, the manager found another one in the same position, gave it to Natalie to open and she found... another gold cow! So we left today with a total of 4 cows, with the guru's and the manager's blessings upon us. Now we have a family of 7 cows and free ice cream in our future. What will all their names be, I wonder?

Zoo Day!
Since it was only going to be in the 80s today Maggie's mommy and I decided it would be a good zoo day. Indeed, it was!
Snuggles with a Willie B memorial
a Giraffe
BFF
Flamingos
Train Ride
Lions
On the way home we got Steak-N-Shake milkshakes and I asked Natalie, "What was your favorite part of today?"
She said, "Zoo with Maggie!"

"I look like Kevin!"
I love Baby Gap/Gap Kids. I love that they give out 20% coupons, even if I have to use them on a full price item, because every no and then I come across something worthy of full-price-minus-twenty-percent. Like this hat:
Natalie proclaimed proudly,
"I look like Kevin!"

She then tried it on and posed for me in several different styles:

Natalie's Uncle Kevin
and his omnipresent hat:

You should be pleased, Kevin, for you are very loved!

Already?
Please note, I would love to put a post about what a great Fourth we had (and we did!) but I failed to get Natalie in her red shirt and bow, failed to get a non-blurry picture of Lindsey, and failed to get a picture of myself at all. So instead I'm going to write about how this year, for the first time that I can recall, I am ready for Autumn to arrive..
Perhaps it's the warm, cozy, colors.
Perhaps it's the warm, cozy, colors.
Maybe it's the Pumpkins and Scarecrows.
It could be the smell of Cinnamon.
It's very likely the School Supplies.
(Natalie, October 2007)
So while there are a good 2 months of summer left to enjoy, I eagerly anticipate the change of season and the breeze, the crunch of the leaves, the sight of sunflowers, and the laughter and smiles it will undoubtedly bring this year.

Jumping and Crawling
We got some great videos of Lindsey yesterday, along with a little Natalie bonus.
(and they're not a Rick Roll!)
Enjoy!
