My Girls
Scene: In the car, girls in the back seat, me up front, Josh in the BBQ place getting us food.
Natalie: I see Baby.
Me: What's Baby doing?
Natalie: (to Lindsey) What are you doing, Baby?
As soon as I get the hang of this having two kids thing they are going to be SUCH FUN!

Here's the story, in brief:
Thursday I nested all day then we took a family walk around the neighborhood, I wouldn't be surprised if we walked for 2 miles. It worked and at 7pm my contractions were at regular 7 minute intervals. We called the doc and headed to the hospital. By midnight, after getting IV fluids and already being told I was dilated 4-5 cm the now every 2-4 minute apart contractions stopped. Who knew you could put yourself in to false labor that seriously! At this point no one is going to leave, so it's ambien for sleep and we'll talk to the doc in the morning.
Dr G was on duty! He delivered Natalie and we're thrilled! Pitocin was started at 7am and my water broken by 8, epidural at 10, and at 11:40, OMG, I needed to push! They called Dr G and said we need you NOW! I was having to do lamaze type breathing to keep from pushing! Dr G arrived, the room was transformed in minutes and after a few wimpy pushes through one contraction (hey, I'd forgotten how to do this!), some good pushes through the next contraction, she was born in the middle of the third contraction! That's right, folks, 4 good pushes and I had a baby! She had the cord around her neck one time but that was quickly moved aside before it could cause any problems. She was a little hesitant to give us a good cry, but once she did, look out! Baby Lindsey was rooting around already and latched on instantly to breast feed.
Things (knocking on wood) have been a breeze since. We were discharged today at 1pm following her hearing test and 24-hour-old labs. We're all doing great. Natalie has taken on the Big Sister role with great pride! Any time Baby Lindsey makes a fuss Natalie says "there's Baby!" and comes over to see what we're doing. She's, so far, shown no jealousy with me holding Lindsey or breast feeding her. It is hard to fit in moments just for me and her, but I'm sure that will come with time and practice. Josh is being a super awesome dad to the girls, naturally.
That's all for now, I'm a little tired and dinner will be ready soon. =)
(yes, I wrote this last night but then didn't get around until posting today. Such is life with a toddler and a new baby!)

Any Minute Now...
I'm 38 weeks and 3 days, 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced and Baby Lindsey is already so low she's +1. Doctor Sir would like to see me again Friday if I'm still pregnant and he doesn't think I will be. Neither do I. But that may just be because I don't want to be. I'm tired. I'm hot. I'm grouchy. I'm done.
In other news, there is no news. Natalie is great. Josh is great. Salem is great. (except for when I caught him sleeping on my pillow, that wasn't so great for either of us!)
Hopefully the next post will be with the most adorable baby pictures you've seen this year and hopefully that post will be soon.
Until then....

Yes, Indeed...
...We're Ready!
I'm 37 weeks and full term today so I have no reservations about saying that we are indeed ready for Baby Lindsey to arrive! While, technically, we could have 3+ weeks left of being pregnant, I truly feel she isn't going to wait that long. Yesterday while taking a snooze on my yoga ball she decided to drop. No kidding. That fast and that noticeably. I think the angle I was sitting/reclining at gave a big help. She's now very heavy in my bum and my belly button is obviously above, no longer at, the roundest part of my belly. Those of you who've birthed a baby before, know that "in the bum" feeling is exactly what L&D nurses want you to have! Her car seat is loaded up in the car, the diaper bag is packed, and can only think of a few more things I need to throw in my hospital bag. She's still very active, though anyone could compare movements from before and now and know she's running out of room. I must admit, I'm getting quite excited!
Natalie has some new books about new babies and being a big sister and she's been choosing those for us to read each night. She even points to the big sister in one of the books and calls her "Nayee." I'm so excited that she's identifying with that role and I think she understands more than we give her credit for in regards to what's about to happen. Also, in the pictures you'll see a knit blanket on the back of the glider. This is Baby Lindsey's blanket, made by Janet, and aside from the colors is just like Natalie's special Blankies. Natalie knows this is "Lindsey's Bayee" and even brought it over to me, pulled up my shirt, and handed Lindsey her blankey. She also put BeBe to bed in the crib with "Lindsey's Bayee" to cover her. No jealousy issues so far....
Here are pictures of her room, including a few close ups of the incredibly cute switch plate and outlet covers I found on ebay.

Busy Week
My mom came here and we went to Tea at our favorite little tea place, Tea Leaves & Thyme in Woodstock. Natalie had a lot of fun eating fruit and dressing up with every set of beads they owned.

We went to see Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up and Natalie had a blast! Our seats were great, we'll definitely go back each year until the girls (how does that sound!?) outgrow it.

We fed some Geese "Ducks".

Natalie had such a busy Sunday with Josh she couldn't make it through dinner.

Natalie and I got all dressed up to go to Baby Lindsey's shower from my friend Allison for our work buddies.

You Know It's The End When...
(and why I need to quit being around the general public:)
Yes, I'm tiny, I get it. I was tiny before I got pregnant and make tiny babies and, just to piss you off I'm going to get right back down to tiny after I have this baby. But, don't talk to me about it. I sure don't feel tiny. I feel like the 30-some-odd pounds I've gained are all sitting in my pelvis and on my bladder and my hips are sore and I get leg cramps every night and I have contractions every day - the real ones that hurt, and there is never a bathroom close enough and I'm farting uncontrollably and I've peed in my pants and to top it all off, I'm swelling and I've had to take my rings off, so my tiny self now looks like a tiny knocked-up teenager! No, I don't want to hear about how your delivery was, or how big or small your kid was or how far apart your two or eight kids are. I just want to get through the last month of this pregnancy and have my baby girl at home soon. And for crying out loud, HOLD THE DOOR OPEN FOR ME!!!
There, I've said it. (I even said some of it to a lady I worked with yesterday. She was pissing me off and didn't know when to stop talking.) I feel a little better. Maybe by having it on here I won't go and offend anyone or myself for the next few weeks. Maybe I'll just send them the link to this. Then again, maybe they'll need the live version.
In the mean time, I really am a nice person.
